Diamond MT was founded in 2001 as a firm specializing in contract applications of Conformal Coatings for Department of Defense and Commercial Electronic Systems. Since our beginning, Diamond MT has established a reputation for providing the highest quality services in the industry.

2019

DMT increases North American footprint by opening 7500ft2 facility in Melbourne FL with 2 custom built parylene machines and custom high volume spray room.

2018

DMT earns AS9100D and ISO9001:2015. certification

2017

DMT enters into agreement with Parylene USA as a distributor of Parylene coating equipment.

2015

DMT earns AS9100C certification for the compliance and application of parylene and conformal coatings. certification

2013

DMT earns ISO9001:2008 certification for the compliance and application of parylene and conformal coatings.

2010

DMT forms partnership with SCH Technologies to be its North American distributor for conformal coating equipment and masking boots certification.

DMT increased Parylene coating capabilities and takes deliveries of 3 additional machines.

Diamond MT (DMT) is founded by Mel Popovich and Tom Horn as a spin out of a high volume, high production contract manufacturing facility in order to fulfill liquid conformal coating applications.

Why Diamond MT?

Diamond MT operates out of a freestanding 12,000 square foot building in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, which is located 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Diamond MT is located near three major interstates and is supported by the Cambria County Airport, which serves as a primary freight terminal for south central Pennsylvania. Diamond MT maintains a strict program per NSI ANSI Standard 20.20 for ESD protection. All work areas are safeguarded with the latest in protection devices including wrist straps, garments, and workstations.

Quality Assurance:
 Diamond MT’s quality manual ensures every employee is focused on continuous improvement and service excellence. Our ESD safe facilities stretch over 12,000 square feet dedicated to your conformal coating requirements. We are continually researching and updating our equipment to make sure we are providing the best ESD protection available.

All employees have been trained in proper ESD procedures. We operate at a class 3 level to ensure the job is done right the first time and to the highest quality standards set forth in accordance with the MIL-STDs, IPC, J-STDs as well as having our bio-medical and ITAR certification. Furthermore, all assemblies are tracked through every step of the process with documentation/serialization spreadsheets as well as each assembly going through a 100% visual inspection.

Diamond MT represents one of the most modern, well-equipped facilities in the region. Organizationally, Diamond MT has the flexibility to address issues in a real time basis and a management style that encourages attention to customer requirements from all technical levels. Diamond MT offers a highly skilled workforce, rapid turn around manufacturing and high reliability through an established quality program, along with experience of commercial manufacturing requirements, competitive pricing and on-time delivery.

Rapid Turnaround:
 Diamond MT understands and realizes that often times conformal coating is overlooked due to the fact that it is the last step in the process. We are committed to serving the industry with rapid turn times for parylene, (normally 10 business days) with expedited service in as little as 2-5 business days depending upon the complexity and quantity.

For liquid coatings, our normal turn time is five business days; again with expedite service in as little as 2-3 business day turns. We understand that there are times you’ll need a project completed FASTER. We will accommodate your needs in a budget friendly manner. 
This service is offered on a FIFO basis.

United States / Canada Joint Certification Program Approved - The United States and Canada share a unique, long-standing military and economic relationship. The two countries are partners in the joint defense of North America and have established a bilateral common structure (NORAD) for mutual defense. Canadian industry is a part of the North American Defense Industrial Base. The United States and Canada consult and cooperate on the development of common industrial security procedures and technology controls. The two governments have entered into numerous bilateral agreements that codify and support this relationship. Diamond MT has been approved through this program, ensuring full compliance with required inspections.

ITAR Registered Facility - International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of United States government regulations that control the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List. These regulations implement the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act, and are described in Title 22 (Foreign Relations), Chapter I (Department of State), Subchapter M of the Code of Federal Regulations. The Department of State interprets and enforces ITAR. Its goal is to safeguard US national security and further US foreign policy objectives.

For practical purposes, ITAR regulations dictate that information and material pertaining to defense and military related technologies (for items listed on the US Munitions List) may only be shared with US Persons unless authorization from the Department of State is received or a special exemption is used. US Persons (including organizations) can face heavy fines if they have, without authorization or the use of an exemption, provided foreign (non-US) persons with access to ITAR-protected defense articles, services or technical data.

Member of the IPC - IPC is a global trade association dedicated to furthering the competitive excellence and financial success of its members, who are participants in the electronics industry. In pursuit of these objectives, IPC will devote resources to management improvement and technology enhancement programs, the creation of relevant standards, protection of the environment, and pertinent government relations. IPC encourages the active participation of all its members in these activities and commits to full cooperation with all related organizations. Diamond MT is proud to be a member of the IPC since January 2012.

Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) - The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA), established in 1984, is a non-profit international association of companies and individuals involved in all aspects of the electronics industry. The Association is dedicated to the advancement of the electronics industry through member education and interaction. The SMTA membership is an international network of professionals who build skills, share practical experience and develop solutions in electronic assembly technologies, including microsystems, emerging technologies, and related business operations. Diamond MT is proud to be a member of the SMTA since January 2012.

AS9100D - This is a widely accepted quality management system for the Aerospace Industry.

ISO 9001:2008 - This International Standard specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

IPC-A-610 Acceptability Standard - Pictorial interpretive document indicating various characteristics of the board and/or assembly as appropriate relating to desirable conditions that exceed the minimum acceptable characteristics indicated by the end item performance standard and reflect various out-of-control (process indicator or defect) conditions to assist the shop process evaluators in judging need for corrective action.

IPC-7711 and IPC 7721 Rework and Repair - Documentation providing the procedures to accomplish conformal coating and component removal and replacement, solder resist repair, and modification/repair of laminate material, conductors, and plated through holes.

IPC CLASS 3 Standard for Coating Requirements - Class 3 — High Performance Electronic Products - Includes products where continued high performance or performance-on-demand is critical, equipment downtime cannot be tolerated, end use environment may be uncommonly harsh, and the equipment must function when required, such as life support or other critical systems.

IPC J-STD-001 End Item Standards - Requirements for soldered electrical and electronic assemblies depicting minimum end product acceptable characteristics as well as methods for evaluation (test methods), frequency of testing and applicable ability of process control requirements.

IPC-CC-830 - Qualification and Performance of Electrical Insulating Compound for Printed Wiring Assemblies- This standards established qualification and conformance requirements for electrical insulating compounds (conformal coatings). It has been designed and constructed with the intent of obtaining maximum confidence in the materials with minimum test redundancy. This standard covers:

  • The qualification and qualification retention of the conformal coating material.
  • The quality conformance of conformal coating material properties.

NASA-STD-8739.1 - Prescribes NASA’s requirements, procedures, and documenting requirements for staking and conformal coating of printed wiring boards and electronic assemblies. These may be tailored to the program applications to obtain the most cost effective, best quality product. Describes basic considerations necessary to ensure reliable staking and conformal coating of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies.

Establishes the responsibility for documentation of those fabrication and inspection procedures to be used for NASA work including supplier innovations, special processes, and changes in technology.
